Does Amazon take payment immediately?
When an order is made, Amazon verifies payment before even giving you address information. If you have orders that say “Unshipped”, that means Amazon has verified payment and you will receive money to your Amazon balance on Seller Central after you confirm shipment of the order.

But that it was pre-authorized, if the preauth was cancelled it depends on the bank’s policies on how fast the funds become available again. Typically it’s 1-4 days.
Why hasn’t Amazon charged my card yet?
The reason Amazon doesn’t automatically debit the money from your account is for two reasons. #1 the customer order may have been a mistake, so Amazon puts a 1 hour hold on the items to allow the customer to cancel the order if it was in fact a mistake.
