If gift card is also identified as VISA or MasterCard, you simply use it as a VISA or MC card.
Does not matter if it is gift card or regular credit or even debit card.
One Caution — the gift card balance available should be greater than the Amtrak charge.
How do I use an Amtrak gift card?
An Amtrak gift card may only be redeemed at amtrak.com, by calling Amtrak at 1-800-USA RAIL and at staffed Amtrak station ticket office locations.
Do Amtrak trains take credit cards?
You can purchase tickets in person at any staffed Amtrak station. At most staffed stations, we accept cash, Amtrak gift cards, credit cards, and debit cards with a credit card logo. Credit and debit cards are accepted for the purchase of Amtrak tickets and services at all staffed stations.

Payment methods. The following are accepted as methods of payments at National Rail stations and retail outlets. They also apply to paying on-train when no opportunity to purchase beforehand existed. Self-service ticket machines at National Rail stations will accept a more limited range of payment.
Where are Amtrak gift cards sold?
The gift cards, which are available in physical cards and digital e-gift cards, are accepted exclusively for train travel purchases and can be redeemed on Amtrak.com and its mobile application, as well as in the station at Amtrak ticket offices and through Amtrak contact centers.
Can you buy train tickets as a gift?
Yes. Train tickets can be used by anyone. If that person is collecting tickets from a ticket vending machine, they will need the credit or debit card used to make the booking.

Can you pay Megabus cash?
Payment for reservations can be made using major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Unfortunately megabus reservations cannot be paid for in cash or by check. These fees are charged by your card issuer/bank and not megabus.
